Better Than The Movies
by Lynn Painter.
I definitely put this book near the top of my Favorites list. The banter between Liz and Wes as they scheme to land Michael as her prom date kept me smiling and laughing until the very end.
Since elementary school, Liz had been a hopeless romantic while Wes perfected the role of an annoying, pain-in-the-butt neighbor who incessantly created mischief aimed at her. He’d always been her adversary. Now it’s their senior year in high school and Wes is still pranking her.
Then Liz’s childhood crush, Michael moves back. He is more handsome and perfect than ever, but he still thinks of her as weird “Little Liz.” Is it possible for him to see her as just Liz, the girl who should capture his heart?
Although it would require help from Wes, Liz devises a plan to get Michael to fall for her. The goal? A date to prom with Michael. The cost? Giving Wes rights to the coveted parking spot in front of their houses. Forever. As they implement their scheme, Liz discovers Wes is more than the irritating boy next door. He has the potential to be her Mr. Right. Is it possible the attraction could be mutual?
This sweet YA romance is about letting go of the past and moving forward to experience everything life has to offer in the here and now.
